Additional Offerings

Eos, a society dedicated to Africana receptions of ancient Greece and Rome, and the CANE DEI committee are co-sponsoring an Eos Reads session on Wole Soyinka’s The Bacchae of Euripides: A Communion Rite (1973) on Friday, March 17, at 1:45 p.m.. Please click here to register in advance for this session.

The Sportula, an organization that provides micro-grants for Classics students, will have a booth at the annual meeting. If you are able to volunteer to work at the booth, please sign up on this link. Donations to the Sportula can be made here.

Don’t forget about the CANE Used Book Sale, Agora, and Silent Auction.  Bring books you are not using/ don’t need as well as other “items of interest.”  The Agora will be selling many interesting and useful items, for both the classroom, student, and teacher.  The Silent Auction will have many unique items, with bids starting at $10.  We are always looking for donations for all 3 sales. Any proceeds will go to CANE. We ask that you pay either with a check, cash or PayPal – forget those credit cards!  See you soon.

Questions? Contact Amanda Loud (aloud@roadrunner.com) or Ruth Breindel (rbreindel@gmail.com).

Registration

Beginning in 2023, registration for the CANE annual meeting by individuals will come in the form of donations to CANE. The registration materials include suggested minimum donation amounts based on historical costs and average attendance in order for the event to break even for the organization. Lunch is included with in-person registration.

We’ve made this change to increase accessibility to the annual meeting for all of our members.

Please note that the cost of the Friday banquet ($45) and CANE membership dues ($50 per year) are fixed amounts and are not considered donations. Active CANE membership is required to attend the annual meeting. If you need to renew or to join, please follow this link prior to registration.

We will ask all registrants to register online, but with an additional step for those receiving support from their institutions.

Registration by individuals

To register online, click the Register Now button and follow the instructions. You will have the option to pay by credit card or by check sent in the mail but all individual attendees should complete the online registration.
