Have you ever imagined the Aeneid performed as an opera? In meter? Here is your chance!
This musical interpretation of the first book of the Aeneid was performed March 22, 1996 at the CANE Annual Meeting Banquet. It was scored, organized and directed by Raymond M. Koehler, at that time a teacher at Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT. The performers are students, teachers and parents. The video lasts 44 minutes and is a combination of live action, photos and illustrations. It is mostly in meter, set to various tunes which Ray composed. Other parts are narrated in Latin and English. In addition, here is the breakdown of the various lines, so you can choose what you want to show the students. They are pretty accurate, but test it out first. I’m not a professional editor (as you will see) so there are some glitches, but this is a wonderful teaching tool – and fun, too!
