The 120th annual meeting of the Classical Association of New England will take place March 20–21, 2025, at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. Proposals for papers, panels, and workshops are now being accepted. We welcome submissions from all interested in the ancient Mediterranean world, its reception, and its pedagogy.

Proposals

The due date for submissions is December 15th, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. The online submission form is here. We will announce all accepted proposals in January.

The options for submissions are:
(1) individual paper – 15 minutes;
(2) panel made up of 3 or 4 presenters – 70 minutes
(3) workshop – option of 30 or 70 minutes

Please contact 2025–26 CANE President Scott Smith at president@caneweb.org with any questions.

Please note that up-to-date CANE membership is a requirement to submit an abstract; so please join CANE or renew your membership for the 2025–26 academic year. If you aren’t sure whether your membership is up-to-date, please contact CANE’s treasurer, Ruth Breindel, and she will inform you: treasurer@caneweb.org.

Registration and Code of Conduct

Online registration for the meeting will open in January 2025. Our Code of Conduct is available here.

Scholarship Opportunities

Please note the many award and scholarship opportunities that CANE has to offer, including the Finnegan-Plante scholarship, which covers the cost of registration to first time attendees who are members of CANE and whose schools do not cover their costs.
