The Society for Classical Studies and the American Classical League announce two new grants to advance the creation of a more inclusive environment in the field of Ancient Mediterranean Studies in K-12 education and offer assistance to teachers of K-12 students and those who are pursuing a career in K-12 education in areas relevant to our discipline (Latin, Ancient Greek, and Classics). Here are the TWO grants: the Rudolph Masciantonio Latin Teacher Grant to Support DEI Initiatives, and the Rudolph Masciantonio Support Grant for Student Teachers of Latin. SCS membership is not required for application to either grant. Each is described at the above links with information about how to apply for each grant. Three Weeks in Italy: A Report on the Renata Poggioli Award
There are gifts that bring a restitutive expansiveness to the life of the mind, and the Renata Poggioli Award is one of them. My grant proposal set out two intentions: to visit sites in Italy that had eluded previous itineraries, and to seek places that would nourish my doctoral work in Comparative Literature, where Ovid, Augustine, Dante, and Bonaventure are constant interlocutors.
